How cisco router and switches works?

I dont know what the second guy is talking about because there are switches out there other than Cisco that provide VLAN support not to mention that Cisco isnt the only provider of Gigabit switches. I wont go into detail on how Cisco routers work because it would involve using a command-line interface such the IOS software. You should probably check out some articles on the web about Cisco routers and switches as i could probably sit here and write a 100 page paper on what your asking.
