A gift for someone who is dying?...?

one of my close friends is dying from cancer and only has a few weks left to live...i want to get him something to symbolise our friendship, but cant think of anything , has any one been in this situation and what did you get for that person...thanks in advance for any ideas..i was thinking of one of them chains which is in 2 pieces..u keep one and give the other half to the other person, but im unable to find anyone who sells them, ive tried our local jewellers and argos but no joy..so if anyone knows where i can get one it would be appreciatted a lot ....thanks again x
